1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Jocelyn Minta and I am from Maidstone Kent, UK. 2. What is your hair type? I have 4a/4b hair.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I went natural on the 1st of January 2011. I watched serra2544 on YouTube and I was inspired to go natural as well. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? At the time when I began my journey, I had no idea what to do to my hair in terms of detangling, conditioning and even how many times I had to shampoo. All these were new to me because I always visited the salon when I was relaxed. I did my research and had so much information on how to handle my natural hair. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I moisturize my hair every other day. Prepoo on fridays and deep condition on Saturdays. I use the OLCO (Oil (Scalp), Liquid and Cream, Oil) method to moisturize my hair. I wash my hair once a month in the winter months. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? Depending on my schedule as I am a super busy person, I may choose to moisturize my hair or just spritz it. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I massage my scalp with the Sheabeutimia hair growth serum which does magic for me. I hate tying my hair so I sleep on a satin pillowcase instead. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I use heat once in a year.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
In the 3 years of being natural, I have braided 3 times. I love to wear my natural hair. 10 Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? I would choose wide-tooth comb but I love my fingers more. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is always in a protective-do for example I am doing a 3 month challenge where I do bantu knots, keep it in for a week and wash at the weekend. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? My hair tragedy was during my recent pregnancy. I had serious hair loss in my crown area that I felt like chopping my whole hair off. I was so depressed that I forgot I could make a formulation that will grow back the hair. Kudos to my hubby who reminded me! 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? Keep it simple and love your hair. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc). You can catch me on my

1. What's your name and where are you from?
I’m Lola and I’m from Lagos, Nigeria. I currently live in the United Kingdom (London). 2. What is your hair type? My hair types are 4a/4b. I’m 4a (coily) around my edges and nape area, with 4b (kinky) at the crown and majority of my hair. I get A LOT of shrinkage (from waist up above my collar bone).
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
I started transitioning to natural in January 2010 with my last relaxer in November 2009. I decided to go natural after finding CurlyNikki.com and discovering lots of amazing naturals on YouTube. I was texlaxing my hair for the year beforehand and I liked my thicker hair! Natural was the next step for me at that point. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? I decided I would transition for at least 2 years because I was too attached to my Mid-back length hair. I had waited too long for that length to cut it all off! My family weren’t too thrilled with the decision but they did come around eventually – it only took 2 years, lol! Caring for the demarcation line between my relaxed hair and natural growth was hardest when detangling, aka wash days. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I co-wash my hair once a week with Tresemme Naturals Vibrantly Smooth Conditioner or one of my homemade mixes and finish with an apple cider vinegar rinse. I leave some conditioner in my hair before the final rinse to keep it soft! I oil and finger-detangle my damp hair and install a protective style like two-strand twists or flat twists. I deep condition or do a Rhassoul Clay mud wash treatment every 2-4 weeks. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? In the morning, I remove my satin scarf and bonnet and moisturize with a water and Aloe vera juice spray and seal with a light oil! 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I moisturize with my moisture spray mix and lightly oil before covering with a satin scarf and bonnet. Simple! 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I don’t use any heat on my hair. I air-dry my Curlformer sets overnight (takes around 5 hours to dry). Bantu knot-outs take forever and a day to dry (I may start using a hooded dryer).
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I use two-strand twists as a protective style for most of the year. I rarely braid my hair. If I have loose twists, I keep them for 1 month maximum. With flat-twists and two-strand twists, I re-do them every 2 weeks and remove after 1 month total. 10 Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Neither, lol! I have found the Denman pulls too much on my hair and I’m too much a fan of finger-detangling to go back to the wide-tooth comb. I recently bought a new hair brush from Bellebene at a hair event in Paris. It has no back so the combs are more flexible. They also appear to be seamless. I will reserve it for once a month thorough detangling before a curly set. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? My hair is usually in a protective style. However, I am experimenting more with curly sets to free it! Lol! I want to enjoy my length and thickness whilst being able to throw it in a bun when needed. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? I can’t think of a hair tragedy. I guess before my hair journey it seemed like every salon visit was a tragedy (the dreaded trim that’s really a cut) but I can’t think of any during my journey so far. 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? My biggest tip is to learn to style your hair yourself. Get one go-to style you can do with your eyes closed. That way, you will never feel like a victim of bad hair days! This allows me to keep going with my regimen and still look cute! If you don’t feel confident about your hair, you will give up just before you’ve achieved the results you want. Be patient whilst perfecting this style though - my flat twists took almost 2 years look great. 14. Where can we find you online? (blog, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc).

1. What's your name and where are you from?
My name is Onyinyechi, virtually known as ‘Nikki Butterscotch’. I am a Nigerian natural living in Birmingham, UK at the moment. 2. What is your hair type? To be candid, I don't hair-type anymore, I used to at the beginning of my hair journey but it wasn't helping me in terms of caring for my hair. Knowing that my hair is non-porous, very dense, very coily with mostly fine medium strands is more useful information to me.
3. When did you go natural and what made you do it?
The first time I went natural was in 2009, I transitioned for 7 months and I went natural because 2 of my friends were natural at the time. The thought of being free from relaxers really appealed to me and I thought why not give it a try. I didn't last though, because I knew very little about natural hair care and I relaxed in September 2010. my hair started breaking off right after that and I decided I was going try a second time. I started researching info about natural hair care, discovered a lot of blogs, YT channels and my friends who were natural gave me tips as well. In march 2011, I chopped it all off and I love my hair now, can’t have it any other way. 4. What was the most challenging thing about going natural? The dryness, it was intense yo!!! lol. it still is, but I can manage that now. As my hair got longer I began to battle with detangling my hair but I am good now. 5. What is your weekly regimen? I don't really have a weekly regimen; if my hair is not in extensions I co-wash. If my hair is in extensions, I clean my scalp with lemon juice, apple cider vinegar or witch hazel, which ever is available, and a cotton pad. I shampoo and deep condition (moisturizing and protein) when there is need. All I do really is listen to my hair. 6. What is your daily morning regimen? I spray my hair with aloe vera juice every morning and seal sometimes with castor or coconut oil. 7. What is your daily night time regimen? I cover my hair with a satin bonnet or scarf and go to bed. 8. Do you use heat on your hair at all? I don't. I don't see the need for it.
9. Do you braid your hair? If so, how often do you do so in a year?
I do braids and twists with extension, usually 4 to 6 times a year and I have them in for 3-6 weeks depending on how my hair and I feel. 10. Wide-tooth comb or Denman brush? Wide tooth comb and my fingers at the moment. I have used a Denman brush in the past and it wasn't bad, still had to use a wide tooth comb first though. 11. Is your hair normally loose or in a protective-do? Mostly in protective styles really for my sanity. I only have my hair loose when I have an event or I just really want to play with it. 12. Have you ever had a hair tragedy? What was it? How did you recover from it? Trimming my hair (myself) is always always a tragedy lol. I always cut off more than I need to. I recover after a day or two because right after I trim I do kinky twists. [Check out my trimming tutorial Chica! Heather x] 13. What's your biggest tip for maintaining healthy or long hair? To maintain healthy hair, my personal tip would be keep calm and moisturize with Aloe Vera juice. 14. Where can we find you online?
